Construction and assembly of the $35m Yolla MLE Accommodation and Utilities Modules project is continuing at the Fitzroy Engineering fabrication facility in New Plymouth. In the time lapse video (below) you will see the last two month’s activity condensed into six minutes.
The assembly will weigh approximately 650 tonnes when complete and the pad on which it sits required comprehensive preparation to allow for seismic movement, wind loading and heavy crane operations.
The base module M1A was moved onto the pad on 6th July and we safely completed the two most critical heavy onshore lifts on this project – module M2 (lift weight 85.5 tonnes) to M1A and M3 (lift weight 92.8 tonnes) to M2 – on 16th July. This represented a major milestone on the Yolla MLE Accommodation and Utilities Modules project and representatives from Origin Energy and AWE, joint owners of the Yolla platform who witnessed the lift, were clearly delighted with the outcome.
Once the three major modules had been assembled the stack up continued with module M12 on 20th July, module M3E on 3rd August and modules M7 and M14 on 5th August. In the coming weeks the gen sets will be installed, and trial fitting of platforms and additional structures will be carried out.
Once testing and commissioning is concluded the entire assembly will be transported to Port Taranaki in one piece mid October for shipment to the Bass Strait in Australia.
We will have a further update for you when Yolla MLE Accommodation and Utilities Modules project is due for departure.
