HEAVY PLATE SHOP

The heavy plate shop specialises in the plate-rolling and fabrication of large diameter sections to ASME VIII, AS1210, PD(BS)5500 and API 650 codes. This department has extensive fabrication experience in the specialist oil and gas and geothermal industries, for products such as LPG bullets, surge drums, boilers, shell & tube heat-exchangers and steam separator vessels. Fitzroy Engineering are experts in the fabrication of large and heavy walled stainless steel, clad and 2205 duplex stainless steel pressure vessels.

FABRICATION FACILITIES

Fitzroy Engineering's primary engineering facilities in New Plymouth occupy a site of over five hectares and boast over 9000m2 of covered workshops.  An additional outdoor construction pad designed to take loads of up to 2000tonnes and 70m long is augmented by a fully serviced mobile all weather protection workshop on rails.  We have successfully completed modular fabrications on this pad up to 800 tonnes, 100m long and 35m tall, and manufactured pressure vessels up to 65m long and 8m diameter.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Fitzroy Engineering Group's quality management system is certified by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance as complying with all requirements of AS/NZS ISO9001.

The quality management system drives a 'Continuous Improvement Programme' which focuses upon ongoing measurement of quality activities/ systems and implements preventative actions and corrective actions where applicable.

SHIPPING AND TRANSPORT

We are a short distance from a modern world-class deep-water port facility, Port Taranaki. Loads of up to 600 tonnes can be transported to the port via a heavy haulage route 8km from our workshops. The heavy haulage route has no vertical obstructions and can take a maximum width of 17m. We have successfully barged and shipped our work all over Australasia, Asia and the Pacific.

WELD PROCEDURES

Fitzroy Engineering has developed over 200 separate weld procedures. These cover a range of materials such as carbon steels, chrome moly, aluminium, duplex and SAF, clad plate, stainless steels, titanium and exotics in a variety of thicknesses.

STEEL ROLLING

Fitzroy Engineering have one of the highest capacity plate rolling operations in New Zealand and Australasia. Plate thicknesses up to 75mm and a variety of materials have been rolled to specified diameters. Heat treatment has provided the ability to roll plate over 100mm thick.

PLATE STRIPPING

Computer assisted (CNC) plate stripping machinery have bed sizes of up to 3.6m wide by 12m long. Cut thicknesses up to 75mm for carbon steel. This technology allows maximum use of plate, accurate development cutouts with minimal wastage.

PRESSURE VESSELS

Fitzroy Engineering has experience in the fabrication of a variety of pressure vessel types including process absorbers, chemical reactors, gas storage bullets, product stills, digester vessels, refining columns, gas regeneration, vacuum columns, flash vessels, extraction vessels, molecular sieve absorber vessels, naphtha columns, debutaniser columns, hot oil heaters, stripper vessels, bio-filter reactors, dry scrubbing vessels, torbed reactors, methanol refining columns, steam separators.

EXCHANGERS

Fin/fan coolers, shell and tube, u-tube, gas/gas, heat transfer coils, repair and tube bundle replacement.

STRUCTURAL STEEL

Steel processing melters, sports stadiums, industrial, museum, platforms and walkways, warehouses, factories, car park, dry store, oil and gas processing, power station, ducting, pipe bridges, timber processing
